Faka'anaua's story

This is Faka'anaua. She is 30 years old, married, and has one son. Her husband was a carpenter but he got injured and therefore left work and stays at home. When her husband was still a carpenter, their needs and wants were always satisfied. Faka'anaua never imagined that they could come across such a hard time like when her husband was badly injured. They were struggling for their living, and she decided to run a business and make money. She started her crafts business, and it has never stopped since it started. She makes kiekie from raw materials such as hibiscus and coconut. Faka'anaua sells her kiekie at the local market and also from her home. Her business helped the financial struggles of her family. Her husband cannot work but their needs are met by the money earned from her business.
