Ercilia Maria's story

Ercilia, age 55, is a small businesswoman who lives in the city of Barranquilla. She saw the opportunity to undertake a business with the savings from her work. She got guidance from her sister, who manages this same type of business, in order to set up her own beauty place encompassing cosmetics and hairdressing.

She started a small place with some employees in the Miramar neighborhood. The business was gaining customers and recognition. Little by little it was growing to the point of having 20 employees like manicurists, stylists, barbers, and estheticians collaborating. Most of them are mothers who are heads of their households and the migrant Venezuelan population who, due to the pandemic, have been out of work.

However, they have the hope of recovering their work by reopening the given area in June. Little by little they hope to recover the level of sales that the beauty salon had and to maintain the jobs it generated. This is the reason that she is requesting her first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. She will use the loan to buy masks, gloves, portable booths, shampoo, and dyes and to pay for rent and public services. Please help her with a loan for her business.
