A loan helped to buy mulberry trees for her tapa making business.

Kaloni's story

Kaloni is a 30-year-old mother of four children, and a wife of a farmer. They live in their own home. Kaloni and her mother together with two other sisters run a business of tapa (barkcloth) making, where they make their own tapas once a week.

They enjoy running their own business and being their own boss. Together they also decorate tapas, and their mother travel overseas with their tapas and sells them there.

Kaloni's husband helped her by growing her own mulberry trees, but this plantation was badly damaged by the cyclone that hit Tonga this April. Kaloni is now applying for a loan to buy mulberry trees for their plantation. Her plan with her husband is to build a new house for their family.
