Mujeres Con Esperanza 4,5 Group's story
Lora is the coordinator of her group, Mujeres Con Esperanza (Women With Esperanza), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican clients generally (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti). Lora’s group is located in the urban slums that surround Santiago, an area known for its tobacco production, where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home there in a simple structure with her husband and four children. Lora is excited to be taking her fourth loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business running a small cafeteria by purchasing sausages, bread, ketchup and mayonnaise as well as two glass display cases. Lora will use the profits to reinvest in her business by moving it out of her home into its own location. Additionally, she plans to make repairs to her home. She thanks you all for your support.
