Las Estrellas De San Luis Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to invest in the purchase of seeds and organic fertilizer.

Las Estrellas De San Luis Group's story

Felicia is a 26-year-old married woman and mother of 2 children aged between 2 and 6 years. She has a small plot of land where she grows delicious vegetables like onions and aromatic herbs like coriander. Despite the fact that the markets have reduced hours and there is a daily curfew, Felicia is selling her product. She knows that it is time for the land to be worked. Due to this circumstance, she is requesting her 3rd loan from Kiva lenders. Felicia will use the capital to invest in the purchase of seeds and organic fertilizer.

Felicia is the secretary of the Communal Bank of Puente de Amistad “Las Estrellas de San Luis” in the department/ state of Totonicapán. She and 7 other women in the group speak the Mayan K'iche language. These women have a primary education and benefit from monthly training sessions that cover one of 4 themes: business, family, health, and women. All of them are farmers of green beans, onions, radishes, coriander, and peas. This month, the women learned how to plan, budget, and maintain their business during crises. Every two months, the women are treated via cell phone by a nurse who provides practical advice to take care of their health. These additional benefits are part of the “Microcredit Plus” program that combines small loans, training, and basic health services.

The women thank Kiva lenders for bringing development into their lives through these loans. Thank you!
