Mirriam's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to help a single mom buy farm inputs such as high-quality certified seeds to improve her farming and thus her income.

Mirriam's story

Mirriam is a 67-year old single mother of one child living in Eldama Ravine, a town that was significantly stuck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis when violence occurred in Kenya. Mirriam was born in a family where farming skills were passed on from one generation to another. She did not have any other way of earning an income, so she chose to venture into farming. Through continuous involvement in crop and animal farming, Mirriam is able to provide a meal for her family three times a day.

Because of various farm practices such as mono-cropping and continuous cropping, her farm soil has lost its fertility. She also suffers losses brought about by various pests and diseases. Mirriam is requesting this loan so that she can buy fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to use in her farm. She believes that these inputs will help her improve her farm yield and therefore increase her income. She is confident that she will be able to repay her loan and expand her farm. This loan will surely empower this hardworking woman.
