Total loan: $4,500

Houston, TX, United States / Transportation

Troy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped my small black owned trucking company during the hardship of Covid-19.

Troy's story

Growing up in South Central LA, when I was about 6 or 7 my mom was laid off from her job. She couldn't find a job anywhere. We eventually got evicted and had to move in with my aunt. After continuing her search for a job after a few months, still coming up empty handed, she decided to go on and get her CDL and drive trucks. After her taking me for a ride one day, me being a kid, I just wanted to blow the horn, but then I decided that driving trucks is what I wanted to do when I grew up. Trucking saved me and my mom when I was a kid so I knew it was something that I could depend on . After overcoming the struggle and growing up I began driving as soon as I turned 21. Over the first three years I learned the business from a driver's perspective and began driving around the country. I eventually purchased my first truck and soon Ramsey Trucking was born. I now employ several drivers, dispatchers, mechanics and help provide a living for several families. The impact that these careers have on families and their livelihood motivates me to do everything in my powers to keep the company up and rolling regardless of the economic volatility.
