Shirley's story

Shirley is a 40-year-old small business owner who lives in the city of Barranquilla. She has a business selling assorted items and artisan work, and has 20 years of experience in this business. Her business idea was born thanks to her mom and grandmother who taught her to sew and love the Wayu tradition, Little by little, she began with various bags, and then started making money. Today she participates in markets and takes orders across the country due to her good work. The products that she makes are Wayu bags, hats, keychains, and purses. Her customers are stores, neighbors, friends, references, and other people in the area. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she had to suspend her work and her income was drastically reduced due to public health concerns. Currently, she is requesting her first Kiva loan through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo in order to buy merchandise in bulk, such as thread, lamb, and sheepskin. Support her in this loan for her business.
