Alice's story

Alice (pictured above inside her house) is a 43-year old single mother of three children living in Vihiga, an area that has a history of regular rainfall. She is a very hardworking woman who has been farming for the past seventeen years enabling her to give her family a solid reputation. She is hopeful that through farming, she will be able to move her family ahead.

Alice is borrowing this loan to buy cereals which she plans to resell in order to make more profit to support her family, especially during this period of global economic crisis. The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat on the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainties and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is on the front line in combating this pandemic by supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in this difficult period.
