Niakh Diarignou Group's story

Ms. Dieynaba is the leader of the NIakh Diarignou group, a Wolof name which in French means “earning by the sweat of your face.” This goal is intended for the entire group, composed of two hard-working women and five men. Ms. Dieyanabe is a livestock farmer. She is 32 years old, married and has four children ranging from four to ten years of age. Two of her children are in school. Her husband raises in stock. She is a solvent customer of VGS. She likes her work and has been engaged in it for six years.

Dieynaba would like to use her loan to buy sheep, animal feed and vaccines in order to take better care of her livestock. This loan will allow her to bolster her business and increase her revenues. She buys her sheep at the weekly markets in her neighborhood and sells her animals during holidays, at the same weekly markets as well as in nearby villages.

Dieyanaba’s revenues allow her to cover part of her children’s school fees, healthcare, food etc. Her main wish is to have a sizeable livestock in order to meet existing high demand. Dieynaba's biggest dream is for her children to study in the best schools in the country.

She reports that her main business challenge is occasional theft of livestock.
