A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.
Zinatu's story
Zinatu is married and lives with her family in a humble mud house in a small village in Kaduna state. In her community, farming is the primary occupation and, like many driven smallholders, Zinatu dreams of scaling her farm business.
Zinatu is returning to work with Babban Gona this season as she will get access to better-yielding seeds, fertilizers and other essential farm inputs that will boost her yield. Apart from increasing Zinatu’s yield to ensure that her family never goes hungry, this loan will also help her earn up to 3 times in net income, compared to the average Nigerian farmer, from selling her maize. Since she joined Babban Gona, her happiest memory was sending her children to school.
With lenders’ support to grow her farming business, Zinatu is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. Zinatu plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to purchase additional farmland to expand her maize farming operations.
Zinatu is confident that, with Babban Gona, she will overcome poverty and secure a strong future for generations to come.
