Alexander Rafael's story

Alexander Rafael is a 48-year-old micro-entrepreneur who lives in the city of Barranquilla with his 3 children. He is separated and lives in his own home. He runs a business located in the city center where he sells watches, clothing, and accessories.

Alexander started the business 22 years ago. He sells his products by taking cash or offering credit. His customers are neighbors, relatives, and people from the local neighborhood.

Alexander’s goals are to improve his sales with new stock and to remodel his store. His business has been paralyzed by the COVID-19 pandemic which has seen his sales drop and in turn his profits.

Alexander is applying for his first Kiva loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to buy more supplies such as fabrics, thread, women’s tops and dresses, buttons, hardware, reflective thread, belts and girdles, a variety of replica and original watches and jewelry.
