A loan helped to purchase iron roofing for their house.

Kaloafu's story

This is Kaloafu. She is a 58-year-old single mother of three children. Kaloafu runs a business of weaving, where she is joined by her two daughters. Together, they weave mats and ta'ovala, but with white pandanus only. Kaloafu has been running this business for more than twenty years. This business provides for her children and cares for them. She sells her weaving to her relatives and friends overseas. But since the lock-down, she has been only selling her weaving locally. Her house was affected by Cyclone Harold, which visited Tonga in April. It blew off all her roofing. Now, she is applying for a loan to buy new iron roofing for her house. Her dream is to continue running her business and earn more money for her family.
