Humberto's story

Humberto is a micro-entrepreneur of 54 years of age. He is a resident of the city of Barranquilla, where he lives with his partner and their three undergraduate children in their own house. He is the owner of a concrete products factory where they make benches for parks, floors for high traffic areas, concrete paving stones, and concrete products in general. He began this work approximately 15 years ago.

Humberto began this business selling blocks, then he included related elements such as paving stones, colored blocks, etc. He began with five employees. He offers his services to the city, businesses, private parties, and friends, among others, with payments in cash or on credit.

He has as a goal to expand the offerings of his products on a local as well as on a national level. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic which has appeared on a worldwide level, he had to close his business because of questions of biosecurity, and his income diminished drastically.

He is now arranging his first Kiva loan with the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo to make an investment in cement, sand, and rods.

Help him with the loan for his business!
