Patebana's Best Female Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay for improved seeds, organic inputs, and a tractor rental, which will allow these farmers to escape subsistence by farming a larger area with a higher yield.

Patebana's Best Female Farmers Group's story

Kadiatu C, pictured first on left, is the featured borrower of Patebana's Best Female Farmers.

She would like to sincerely thank all of the Kiva lenders for their first loan, which enabled the group's members to break free from the local lenders who were charging them nearly 100% interest. As a result, all group members have fully recovered their businesses, have repaid their first loan, and are successfully farming again.

The group is now seeking a second loan to expand further, as the COVID-19 pandemic is causing food shortages in some areas of Sierra Leone. The group would like to take advantage of this and increase their production further, as rice prices are on the rise.

The profits from this loan will be used to ensure all members' children go to school.
