Betty Monserrate's story

Betty Monserrate, age 44, is in a common law relationship from which she has three children, two adults and one age 15. Her partner works in construction. The live in the community of La Sequita, a place of humble people who get their families ahead through their work. This area has been very affected by the health emergency brought on by Covid-19.

She is a hardworking woman who, through the loans, earns her income and so helps her partner to get ahead. She has a grocery store, where she sells a great variety of groceries, legumes, meat, bottled water, ice creams, and many other items, to meet the needs of her clients. Recently, her business has been affected due to the pandemic. Her sales have declined and she cannot buy merchandise for her store because there are no vehicles for transportation. Despite this situation, she is confident that things will get better, and so she is beginning to raise pigs for sale.

This loan is to buy pigs. Her dream is to have her store better stocked and that sales improve.
