Machakos, Machakos, Kenya / Agriculture

Rose's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Rose's story

Get to know Rose, a 61-year-old mom and humble woman from Machakos, a small and humble village. Her two joys are her family and her farming business. Rose grows crops that she sells to her neighbors and the local market. Her motive is to earn a profit, which she saves and uses to improve her children's lives.

Rose gets satisfaction from working independently and from the profits she enjoys. In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic; the kind of inputs that are being used in the sector today are upgraded. On this note, there is a need to use improved farming inputs for effective production. Rose is borrowing this loan to buy inputs such as fertilizers and hybrid seeds to improve her crop production, generate more income, and revive the hopes of her school-going children. She also plans to use part of the money to pay laborers, loaders, and transporters.

Rose is optimistic that this year's harvest will be better than last season's. Her income from the dairy business will be used to make initial loan repayments until the crops are harvested and sold.
