A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

'ahake's story

This mother's name is 'Ahake. She is 38 years old, married to a farmer with seven children. They live in an old two bedroom house. 'Ahake runs a business of weaving, where she joins a group of women in their village, and together they conduct weaving at 'Ahake's house. Together they weave taovala, mats and fihu, both with white and brown pandanus.

'Ahake sells out her products to her relatives overseas, but since the lock-down, her business market is affected and therefore she has to sell her weaving locally, but for a cheaper price. She is applying for a loan to buy herself pandanus for her weaving business. Her dream is to continue on running her business, to save money and build a new and bigger house for her family.
