A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Vika's story

Vika is a 59-year-old widow of six grown children. Her children have their own families, and only her youngest daughter remains with her.

Vika runs a weaving business, and she and a group of women weave taovala and mats at her home, mainly with brown pandanus only. This has been her family's primary source of income for many years. Vika enjoys weaving in a group because it helps with her business a lot, and she is able to finish her weaving faster. Vika is applying for a loan in order to buy more pandanus for her weaving.

Vika just finished building herself a new house. Her next plan is to save money to buy furniture for her house.
