Born and raised in New York, with passions spanning business, journalism, and foreign language, I headed off to college at Duke University, not quite sure what I wanted to be when I grew up. I had studied Italian language in high school, and decided to keep that up with Italian Studies as my second major; but my primary post-graduation plan was to embark on a career in business. The son of two self-made entrepreneurs, I myself had caught the entrepreneurial bug, but corporate America seemed the path of least resistance. My junior year, I studied abroad in the small town of Sesto Fiorentino just outside Florence, and everything changed. I fell in love with all things Italian: the people, the culture, the natural beauty, the food. Through language, I did all I could to connect with locals, immerse myself in the country, and experience the real Italian way of life. This included extending my stay another semester and getting a job as a waiter at a restaurant in Florence. Though after undergrad I ventured into the corporate world, with roles in finance, marketing, and brand management, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, my passion for Italy (along with my entrepreneurial drive) never died. I traveled to Italy as often as I could, and had the chance to live there once again in 2004-2005, when a work assignment took me to Milan. Eventually, it all clicked, and I saw a way that I could embark on an entrepreneurial pursuit tied to my deep-seated passion for Italy. And in 2011, I officially left the corporate world to start Ciao Andiamo, to help others embark on their own authentic adventures through Italy, and fall in love.
