Total loan: $300

Kaduna, KD, Nigeria / Agriculture

Jamilu's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.

Jamilu's story

Jamilu, who is 28 years of age, is single and lives with his family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Kaduna state. In his community, farming is the primary occupation, and like many diligent smallholders, Jamiluto dreams of expanding his farming business. However, due to poor farming practices, it has become difficult for farmers like Jamilu to achieve high yields in order to make higher income.

Luckily, as a Babban Gona member, Jamilu will achieve this because of this loan which will provide him with higher yielding seeds that are locally adapted and are widely accepted in his local community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable Jamilu to optimize his yield, thereby attaining yields of up to 2 times the national average in Nigeria.

With lenders support to grow his farming business, Jamilu is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. He plans to use the profits from this season’s harvest to access better health facilities for his family.
