Valema's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also mulberry for her tapa making business.

Valema's story

Meet Valema. She is 37 years old, married to a farmer, and they have eight children. They live in their own two-bedroom house. Valema runs a business weaving and making tapa together with a group of women her village. They only make tapa on Saturdays every week, and they weave three days a week.

Valema joined the group of women two years ago, and she has witnessed the benefit of working together in a group. Not only that they help each other with the weaving, but it also takes a shorter time to finish a whole mat or taovala.

Valema sells her tapa, mats, and taovala overseas, but due to the lock-down, she now sells through social media. She is hoping to use her loan money to buy pandanus and mulberry for her business. Her dream is to build a bigger and more comfortable house for her family, and she is working towards her dream.
