Neris Lucila's story

Neris is a micro-entrepreneur, is 49 years old, and lives in the city of Barranquilla. Since she was young she has liked anything related to the preparation of food and special dishes. She inherited the Cartagena seasoning from her family and decided to take advantage of her abilities and start her business with the goal of generating income to support her family.

In the beginning, she sold lunches to her neighbors, but her clientele was growing and offices near her home were placing orders. She set up her restaurant to sell to the public with the help of her husband and children.

Because of the pandemic, her business has been directly affected and she had to close. But she still continues to sell lunches to the neighbors and do home deliveries, and this has become her new work model. Selling to her neighbors has allowed her to continue with her business and generating income, but she needs to have a larger working capital to be able to cover some of the fixed costs for things like utilities and rent.

For this reason, she is asking for this loan to help with the mitigation of the effects that the pandemic has caused her business. She is asking for her first Kiva loan with the Mario Santo Domingo Foundation. Please help her with this loan.
