Samaila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase improved farm inputs that will increase farm yield.
Samaila is 28 years of age and single. He lives with his family in an ordinary mud house in a small village in Nigeria's Kaduna state. In Samaila's community, farming is the primary occupation, and, like many diligent smallholders, Samaila dreams of expanding his farm business. Lacking access to quality inputs, it is difficult for farmers like Samaila to achieve high yields and earn better incomes. Luckily, as a Babban Gona member, Samaila will be provided with higher-yielding seeds that are locally adapted and are widely accepted in his community. He will also have the recommended pesticides and fertilizers based on the results of his field assessment. This will enable Samaila to optimize his yield thereby achieving returns of up to two times the national average in Nigeria. With lender support to grow his farming business, Samaila is looking forward to a bountiful harvest. He plans to use the profits from this season's harvest to build a better house for his family.
