Avec Bamtare Salamata Group's story

Mrs. Halimatou is the leader of the "Avec Bamtare Salamata" group (meaning development - emergence in the Fulani language). She is the one on the picture. She is 54 years old and married with 6 children between the ages of 8 and 16, 3 of whom go to school. Mrs. Halimatou is uneducated. Her husband has a small family farm where he practices some farming activity over the winter.

She dreams of expanding her sheep farming business and of becoming a big livestock producer. She manages to help her husband to take care of the family with the profits from her business. She is the one who pays for the children's education. She wants her children to go to the best schools in the country.

The group "Avec Bamtare Salamata", which consists of 18 brave women, is asking for the loan. Mrs. Halimatou wants to use her portion of the loan to buy sheep at one of the largest weekly markets in her region. She will fatten them before reselling them at that same market. She has been working in that business for over 10 years and is quite experienced. However she faces issues of feed supply and funding.
