Yana's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to diversify her business to buy food items such as maize and rice.

Yana's story

Yana is a 26-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her mother in the Mangochi district in Malawi. Yana runs her own clothing shop. She is requesting a Kiva loan to diversify her business to buy food items such as maize and rice. She will use the available stock to exchange with the food items. Yana plans to use the profit she earns to save money to take care of her mother and siblings and reinvest in her business.

Yana will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering two-and-a-half hours per week as a CAMFED Transition Guide, supporting other young women who are just entering CAMFED’s alumnae organization, CAMA, by delivering an orientation course with weekly sessions on topics including health, financial literacy and career guidance.
