Rosa's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs, such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds, to improve her farm yield and make more profits from sales to support her family.

Rosa's story

Special people of Kiva!

The above picture is of Rosa, a 62-year-old mom of 2 school-going children, who has always struggled to make her dreams become a reality. She knows that this would not be possible through magic, but through hardwork and determination.

Rosa is married and takes great care of her family. She was born in a family where farming skills were passed from one generation to another. She did not have any alternative way to make an income, so she chose to venture into farming. Through continuous involvement in crop and animal farming, Rosa is able to provide a meal to her family three times a day.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is the pillar of the agricultural revolution. However, in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government is way below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in input availability.

Rosa is requesting this loan to buy farming inputs, such as high-nutrient fertilizers and certified seeds, to improve her farm yield and make more profits from sales to support her family. This loan will surely empower this hardworking woman.

Kindly lend to her and fuel her future!
