Total loan: $550

Isoka, Northern Province, Zambia / Food

Yvonne's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her cereal business and increase the size and range of her stock.

Yvonne's story

Yvonne is a 36-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband, her three children, and her siblings in the Isoka district in Zambia. She is the former district chairperson of the CAMFED Association, a network of young women who were supported through school by CAMFED. Yvonne sells rice at the market and also owns a salon.

She received a Kiva loan before and she repaid it, and she is now requesting another loan to expand her business. With her first Kiva loan, Yvonne expanded her business and she used the profit she earned to support her family's basic needs. She is requesting a second loan to boost her business by buying more rice to meet the demands of her customers. She plans to use the profit she earns to continue to support her family's basic needs and pay school fees for one of her siblings.

Yvonne will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Business Mentor, leading sessions to teach less experienced local women how to become successful entrepreneurs by developing their business acumen and sharing the lessons she learned from operating her business.
