Total loan: $1,150

Nyahururu, Nyandarua County, Kenya / Agriculture

Faith's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as nutrient-rich fertilizer to boost the quality of her crop produce, earn more profits, and elevate her standard of living.

Faith's story

Meet Faith, a 53-year-old mom. Faith took on farming a few years ago without any shadow of a doubt in her abilities. She is from a remote village in Nyahururu, Kenya.

She has defied the common thinking among most Kenyans that agriculture is only for the older generation. Through experience based on curiosity and her natural abilities, Faith has emerged as one of the most respected farmers in her village. Faith is a competent farmer who has been doing crop farming.

One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, fertilizers, pesticides, and other important farm inputs have become more accessible to its members than buying a bottle of water.

Faith has taken this loan so that she can use it to buy quality farming inputs, such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, which she plans to use on her crop farm. With these inputs, Faith will be assured of a good harvest, which will consequently reflect on her pocket.

This loan will be a “turning point” for this hardworking mother and will make her life better in 2020.
