Antonia's story

Antonia is a 49-year-old housewife who lives with her family in the La Zorra annex of the hamlet of Arbolsol. It's a rural area of the Morrope district, known in the region for having a scattered population, where one group lives far from the other. The majority of the groups are considered poor. The district is part of the Lambayeque province, which is 45 minutes from the city of Chiclayo. Antonia has been raising and selling animals since she got married. She raises small animals just outside her home, especially goats and sheep. When they are grown, she sells them to the businesspeople who always visit the area to buy animals that they will sell again in Chiclayo. Her business is well received in the area and allows her to help her husband provide for the family. Antonia wants to grow her business by buying more animals and good feed for them so that she can raise quality livestock and earn more money. Because of this, she needs to get her first loan for 1500 nuevos soles from Kiva partner Edpyme Alternativa, which will help her meet her goals. Antonia is a hard working woman who has always fought to help her family get ahead. Her greatest longing is to continue helping her husband improve the family's quality of life. She is very well known and esteemed among her neighbors.
