Ybycuí, Paraguarí Department, Paraguay / Food

Maria Auxiliadora Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy starch, cheese, eggs, butter, and other products for making chipas [cheesy buns] to sell.

Maria Auxiliadora Group's story

Maria Auxiliadora Group was formed by women who got together to look for a better quality of life for their families. Each one has an enterprise, and through these they generate the means to be able to help their families.

Among them, it is worth mentioning Elsa, a lady who takes charge of making and selling chipas [cheesy buns]. She notes that she makes the chipas herself, and then she goes out to sell them on foot, on the street. She is an entrepreneurial person who, with much sacrifice, has managed to get ahead.

She notes that owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the entire country ordered to be under quarantine, she could not work normally, nor fulfill her obligations. She is someone who, despite the daily difficulties, remains undefeated and looks for the way of being able to overcome and get ahead despite this situation.

She requests this loan in order to be able to invest it in the purchase of ingredients so that she can make her chipas, such as starch, cheese, eggs, butter, and other products.

Note: Only one person appears in the photo, but this is a group loan. It was not possible to take a group photo, in order to avoid large gatherings of persons, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
