14 De Mayo Group's story

Rosa Argentina (seated in the middle of the group) is a single mother from León, Nicaragua and a member of the “14 de Mayo” communal bank. She earns her living making fried snacks (yuquitas). She started the business 20 years ago with the first loan she received from Pro Mujer. She has sad memories of the difficulty starting her venture as an entrepreneur. Even being poor she knew how to make the most of her opportunities and provide her three children with education, food and housing.

A new loan will allow her to buy a number of quintals of yuca, the raw material for her snacks.

“I feel proud because we have been able to get ahead” she states. Give a warrior and mother like Rosa an economic boost!
