Baseco Gasangan Group

Manila, NCR, Philippines / Retail

Baseco Gasangan Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy several sacks of rice, canned goods, milk, sugar and condiments to sell to customers during the quarantine period.

Baseco Gasangan Group's story

Jeraldine and her group are thankful for the loan extended to them by Kiva and Kiva lenders. The loan amount was used by each member to improve their respective businesses.

When the government effected the community quarantine as a measure against the Covid-19 pandemic, Jeraldine and her group faced difficulties with their businesses. It has been difficult to get supplies as there are only certain days that people are allowed to go out to buy essential items. On the other hand, sales have been considerably good as people tend to buy at nearby stores rather than walk to the market as public transportation is mostly suspended.

Jeraldine is requesting a loan to buy several sacks of rice, canned goods, milk, sugar and condiments to sell to her customers. Jeraldine hopes that by stocking up on these items, she can reduce the day she has to go to the market to replenish her stocks and therefore reduce her exposure to a lot of people. The loan amount will also be shared by the rest of the group members who, like Jeraldine, hope to build inventories for their businesses in order to avoid frequent market trips and make their products readily available to their customers.

Note: This is a group loan but we managed to have the photo of Jeraldine only in order to comply with the social distancing measures implemented by the government and for the borrowers' safety as well.
