Susan

Busia, Busia, Kenya / Food

Susan's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy different varieties of cereal ─ maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley, millet ─ to sell in the local market and make more profits for her family.

Susan's story

Susan, pictured in her house, is 38 years old and has four children. She lives in Busia, a remote area on a gentle plain before the ascent into the western region of Kenya. Filled with determination to better her family's conditions while not being deterred by her poor financial status, she's decided to start cereal trading. Like a smart businesswoman, she's found this to be a great business idea.

She's seeking this loan to buy different varieties of cereal ─ maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley, millet ─ to sell to her customers in the local market. Susan is a good salesperson and believes the profits in her business will enable her to complete paying for her children's education.

This idea is remarkable as she'll also provide a market to cereal growers in her village. Through this loan, the life of this enterprising woman will be changed completely. Be inspired to lend to her. Susan thanks Kiva lenders in advance for their support.
