A loan helped San Francisco Reiki Center Stay Open.
I was raised by community members, churches, teachers, spiritual mentors, schools, the library, and the basketball court. My biological parents lost their rights to raise me due to poverty, drug use, and mental illness. My upbringing consisted of foster homes. Some say I was lucky; they call me resilient, the American Dream. And I say that is the partial truth and also and more important to me is that: “Community raised me, held me, helped me, and nurtured me to become the person I am today.” I am grateful to have attained a Masters of Science degree from Columbia University School of Social work and have been able to dedicate myself to help people throughout my career. I am thankful to my spiritual teachers who taught me meditative and energy healing practices to assist and nourish my spiritual growth. These teachings have both prepared and enhanced my skills to help others along their healing and life paths that promote wellness. In 2011, I opened San Francisco Reiki Center (SFRC). The mission of my practice parallels my values: Provide a safe space for physical, emotional, and spiritual transformation for others. Being able to open this practice that serves as a Community Center that welcomes all people is what continuously motivates and guides my passion. My clients and students come for Reiki to incorporate a more meditative way of being into their daily lives. People are drawn to the modality who are looking to de-stress, have less anxiety and depression and have more increased health, calmness and peace. I am asking for KIVAs’s financial support because SFRC has had to close its doors as of March of 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. SFRC provides a service to the community that encourages wellness. I am asking for consideration because SFRC is at risk of closing its doors and I want to ensure that we stay open and have a commercial space to come back to; providing Reiki will be a benefit for the community as we seek to have a sense of normalcy restore and work on our emotional and physical wellness.
