Catherine's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cereals to resell, allowing her to improve her family's standard of living.

Catherine's story

Hello wonderful lenders in the Kiva portal! Catherine is a 47-year-old mother of 2 children. She is a very busy woman, looking after her cows and nurturing the growth of her crops. Her two joys are her farm and her lovely family. She has been farming for the last few years. The income she makes from selling milk and crops is used to provide the basic needs for her family.

Although Catherine has gathered much experience in this business and her clients enjoy the quality of milk and crops she sells to them, she is not comfortable with the little she earns, having invested so much of her time and effort. She has therefore decided to take out a loan, which she will use to buy different varieties of cereals from local farmers to sell to her customers and at the local market. Through this work, she will earn a commission that she intends to use to repay the loan and elevate her standard of living.

This loan is therefore an opportunity that Catherine has never had before. Her irregular income and lack of collateral security were the main drawbacks limiting her from accessing a loan from the commercial banks. Thanks to Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, the lives of Catherine and her family will be changed through this loan.
