Olusheno's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase solar home systems that will be financed for rural customers in Namibia.
“I want to grow up to be a doctor”, says John, the boy pictured. John dreams of making his parents proud and bringing prosperity to his remote village of fifty inhabitants in the middle of the beautiful Namib Desert. Every day at 6 pm, John’s world descends into darkness, as his un-electrified village gets enveloped by the night. John and his friends huddle to complete their homework sitting next to the only kerosene lamp in the house, rubbing their eyes constantly in the dim light. His parents have heard of solar lights but cannot afford them. “I have seen solar shine in others’ homes, but it is only a dream for us”, laments his father. Olusheno, a local social enterprise based in Namibia, aims to change that. Partnering with d.light design, a leading manufacturer of solar lighting systems, Olusheno aims to bridge the affordability gap by providing high-quality solar light to thousands of “off-grid” families on affordable installments. Olusheno has already provided sustainable lighting to over 13,000 households across the country and is working to fulfill the government’s dream of bringing reliable electricity to its one million off-grid citizens by 2030. This loan will be used as working capital for Olusheno to purchase solar home systems that will be sold in rural areas of Namibia. Your contribution will help thousands of people light up their lives for the first time!
