Pircila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a single woman borrower with good credit standing to buy farm inputs to improve her productivity, leading to increased profits to support her children until they finish school.

Pircila's story

Pircila (59-years-old mom of three) loves agricultural production because it is her only way of providing for her family. She is a mother working hard to make the world a better place for her family. Ever since she started farming, Pircila has made tremendous steps in her life.

Pircila’s determination to persist without giving up hope is her major weapon in fighting poverty. She works hard to meet the needs of her small family, including her children and her farm. Pircila, a single mother, has been working on her farm for more than ten years. Through farming, Pircila is able to meet the basic needs of her family.

Access to modern-quality farm inputs is a pillar of the agricultural revolution. However in Kenya, a developing country, fertilizer and seed allocation by the government are far below the needs of farmers. Since Juhudi Kilimo, which is in partnership with Kiva, ventured into the affairs of smallholder farmers in Kenya, farmers can attest that there has been a significant improvement in availability of inputs.

Pircila is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to improve the quality of her farm produce and increase her income. To others, it might just be a mere loan, but to Pircila it’s the biggest opportunity she will have this season for changing her life.
