A loan helped a loan to use in transporting her perishable farm produce to the market.

Esther's story

Hello from Thika,
Get to know Esther, a 32-year-old mother of 2 children. Esther is a smallholder farmer who loves and enjoys farming. She is a mixed dairy, pig, and crop farmer who has farmed for many years. She lives in Thika, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain farming, dairy farming, and crop farming.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high costs of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the costs of land acquisition and inputs, which have always been high. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions, which sometimes impose very complicated processes.

Esther is seeking a loan to use in transporting her perishable farm produce to the market. Through the loan, she will timely deliver her perishable products to the market.

This loan will be a turning point for a zealous mother in this first half of 2020.
