A loan helped to transport her farm produce to the market.

Winnie's story

Hello from Sotik. Get to know Winnie, a 34-year-old single mother of 2 children. Winnie is a smallholder farmer who loves and enjoys farming. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for many years now. She lives in Sotik, a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands which favor large-scale grain farming, dairy farming and crop farming.

In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high costs of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the costs of land acquisition and inputs, which have always been high. To meet the high costs of inputs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions, which sometimes impose very complicated processes.

Winnie is seeking a loan to use for transporting her farm produce to the market. Through this loan, she will deliver her perishable products in a timely manner to the market.

This loan will be a turning point for a zealous mother in this first half of 2020.
