Katipunan 2 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabrics, garters, and thread needed to sew washable face masks that are in high demand during the quarantine period.

Katipunan 2 Group's story

Charito and the rest of the Katipunan 2 group thank Kiva for the loan extended to them. As round rags producers, Charito and the group were able to purchase scrap fabrics and have their sewing machines repaired or upgraded so that they could produce and sell more round rags.

The implementation of the enhanced community quarantine as a measure against Covid-19 has affected the economies of low-income families. Charito worries for her family's safety and food security. For her part, the round rags she has finished sewing could not be picked up and remain unpaid due to limitations on transportation.

Determined to earn, Charito began to sew washable face masks and sold these. She was happy that the items were instantly sold out and more orders are coming in to her and her group. She requests a loan to buy the fabrics, garters, and thread that are needed to sew washable face masks, which are in high demand during the quarantine period. Charito will share the loan amount with other members of her group who are also sewing these items.

Note: This is a group loan, but only Charito has been photographed because the government prohibits all forms of social gatherings during the quarantine period.
