April's story

My name is April. I was raised in Rock Ford, Colorado by a single mother whom suffered from mental illness. I graduated from high school in 1998. I attempted college for a degree in enginering immediately after graduation. College was unaffordable and I was unable to continue. I dropped out and had two children. They are now 18yo and 20yo. I went back to college as a single mother in 2008 to pursue my nursing degree. I continued as a single mother working full time and going to school full time. I graduated from nursing school in 2010 with an associate's degree but did not stop there. I worked emergency medicine at Centura's ER for over 7 years. I got married in 2016 and graduated with my master's in nursing in 2017. I became a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in 2017 working in private practice and with geriatric's in the nursing home community. In Jan 2018, I started my own outpatient mental health clinic and continue to grow and provide services for a wide variety of clients with mental illness.
