Shandowlyon's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped establish more housing for adults with disabilities and the homeless.

Shandowlyon's story

I, a parent of an adult son with multiple severe disabilities, identified two community needs…least restrictive living options for adults with disabilities and combatting homelessness. It is these needs that led to the restructuring of Project Hope, Inc. in 2014 toward the goal of establishing and operating multiple 1-2 bed Adult Family Homes (AFH) and Single Room Occupancy (SRO) homes. Project Hope, Inc., has continued to operate as a non-profit 501(c)3 community based organization committed to improving lives. This organization’s focus is to (1) provide high quality housing to adults with disabilitis toward the goal of increasing their ability to live in the least restrictive environment while simultaneously engaging them in community experiences that will lead to them maximizing their potential; and (2) provide housing option to adults with or without disabilities who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We operate homes on the north side of Milwaukee wherein residents remain close to family members.
