Mame's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped me to restart my women-owned business overcoming the challenges posed by COVID 19.

Mame's story

Born and raised in Harlem, I wanted to become an entrepreneur since I was a teenager influenced by my mother's entrepreneurial pursuits. I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Global Supply Chain Management, and after completing my first semester, I knew that entrepreneurship was my true passion. I started doing hair when I was 13 by helping my mother out in her shop during the summers. While in college, after learning the main concepts of business with the help of my university's Entrepreneurship Center, I started my first business, Lux Dior Hair Collection, an online platform where I sold hair extensions and made wig units. After having online success and building a strong enough foundation, I knew I wanted to open a storefront business. I always loved the idea of a one-stop-shop for beauty; instead of going to two-three different establishments to receive services, you can visit one establishment to receive all services. After two years of careful planning and saving, I opened Jamilah Beauty Studio, located in Harlem. Jamilah Beauty Studio is not just another hair salon but a beauty studio owned by a young female entrepreneur dedicated to bringing a holistic approach to beauty services, having the client's needs in mind.
