Than's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay rent, utilities, and marketing to save my business while it is closed due to COVID-19.

Than's story

My name is Than. I was born and raised in Myanmar, where I owned a barber shop for two years. In 2012, I was forced to flee for family safety into a refugee camp in Malaysia. While we were there I was working in many different jobs and cutting hair for people in the community. It was a great day when we learned we were coming to the United States to build a new life. When we arrived in America, I started to work as a sushi chef for many years. After saving some money I began working with the IRC to learn how to get the licensing I needed to be a barber. I worked with them to open a savings account and then went to school for certification when I had enough saved to pay. After I received my license, I worked with a business coach to get a small loan to start my own shop and return to doing what I love to do as a barber.
