Mele's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving and also provide for her family during the lock-down.

Mele's story

Mele is 53 years old. She is a mother of seven, grandmother of two and a wife of a farmer.

Mele and her husband live together with their youngest daughter at their own home. Their older children have their own families and they live at their own homes.

Mele runs a weaving business, weaving taovala, mats and fihu, both with white and brown pandanus. She has been running this business for decades, and it was her family's primary source of income.

She normally joins a group of weaving women in their village, but due to government new rules for spacing with awareness of COVID-19, Mele weaves at her home on her own.

She applies for a loan to buy pandanus, and also provide for their daily living during the lock-down.

She only hopes for sometime soon for the lock-down to be over so she can continue with exporting her products overseas for better money.
