Grace's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers to improve her production and earn profits to support her children.

Grace's story

Grace is a mother of three children and lives in Thika, a very remote village in Kenya where the main economic activities include agricultural processing, horticulture and pineapple farming. She is a hard-working, progressive and honest farmer.

Together, she and her family live on a small piece of land that she treasures. Her primary sources of income are eggs and milk. Though she faced life on the blunt edge, she never lost her hope of always wanting to succeed. Grace started farming to empower people to live a healthier life by providing them with food. Her determination to persist without giving up hope is her major weapon in fighting poverty.

The biggest constraint to the success of Grace is the use of poor-quality fertilizers and lack of certified seeds. Grace is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and high-nutrient fertilizers. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs.

She will generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Thika can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.
