Beatrice

Bungoma, Bungoma, Kenya / Agriculture

Beatrice's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farming inputs such as seeds and to hire new laborers to grow more crops on her farm, and therefore expand her farm operations.

Beatrice's story

Wonderful community of Kiva,

Beatrice is a 63-year-old mother of four children living in Bungoma, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. She has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business.

Beatrice never had a formal education and is content with the farming lifestyle. Her childhood was very challenging, and because of this, she promised herself that she would work hard to get out of poverty. Beatrice is seeking a loan of 50,000 KES, which she will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire labourers to grow more crops on the farm.

It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited available resources to expand the farm business. With your help, Beatrice will be able to pay the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion. A significant portion of the profits will be invested back into the business to fuel growth, as she wants to set a good example and foundation for her children. She hopes for your help and contribution, and she thanks you in advance.
