Truphena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy quality farming inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, which this humble Mom plans to use on her farm to improve her production.

Truphena's story

Meet Truphena, born in 1961 and a Mother of four children, two of whom attend school. Truphena is a rural smallholder farmer from the Kitale area of Kenya. She is living proof that hard work leads to success. Ever since she started farming, she has become independent and more skilled.

Truphena practices mixed dairy and crop farming. The biggest problem that farmers from Kitale face, is a huge shortage in terms of access to agricultural inputs, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Kitale, like Truphena, can now buy productive assets and important inputs for use on their farms.

The loan that Truphena is seeking will buy quality farm inputs such as seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, which will enable her to improve her corn production. This intervention will help her meet the increasing demand for food in the market, and in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and improve her family's quality of life. She also hopes to improve the conditions of her house. Please help this Mother to accomplish all of her dreams by helping her with a loan!
