A loan helped keep my business alive during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ryan's story

I grew up in a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah. My childhood days were spent exploring and creating. One of my fondest memories was building a go-cart out of scraps. Curiosity is a driving force for me and I find that I always have to figure out how things work. While working in Los Angelos, I came across a trending video featuring slow-motion photography at a wedding. I thought it was really cool and began exploring this industry. I found that all of the companies that resulted from the viral video could not figure out how to automate the editing and shareability of slow motion footage. I had an itch to scratch to prove that a trending slow motion photo booth concept could be automated. I spent my days calling camera shops asking questions about different cameras and software systems. I did this until I cracked the code. Time Machine is proud to be a pioneer in the field of instant, shareable slow motion videography. Right off the bat, the business model worked. As a musician turned accidental business owner, I still had some things to learn. Over the first few years, I obsessively listened to business podcasts and read as much as I could online to learn how to run a successful company. In 2019, I was blessed to be accepted into the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program in Utah. This three month course gave me critical knowledge and skills sets that will help me to lead my business forward. I have continued to work with business advisors and colleagues from that program for the past year. At this time, Time Machine makes our photo booths by hand and in-house. Post-pandemic, Time Machine will release a 2.0 version of our booth that offers our clients many more features and will be produced at a fraction of the cost. This will allow Time Machine to grow and expand into larger markets over the next few years. As I said, I’ve been a I've been a tinkerer and a builder since childhood. I started Time Machine to offer clients handcrafted photo and video experiences at their corporate or private events. I take pride in creating experiences and the software/hardware to help guests capture and preserve memories of those experiences.
